U.S. Consulate Visits U.S./Mexican Cultural Institute in Morelia

On June 18th, the Public Affairs Officer from Consulate Guadalajara met with the Instituto Cultural de Michoacán Board President and Director who discussed the status of changes to the 52-year-old institution in line with recently-developed standards for cooperation between the Mexican Binational Centers and the U.S. Government.

Created by the U.S. Government in the 1950s and 1960s, Institututos Culturales Mexicanos formed the backbone of English language teaching and cultural exchange between the U.S. and Mexico. Today, the Institutos Culturales not only provide a solid foundation in English language acquisition, but serve as a place where those who care about education, culture and language can exchange ideas about societies and culture.

Over the years the Institutos Culturales Mexicanos have become private institutions dedicated to the promotion of mutual understanding between Mexico and the United States.  The Instituto Cultural de Michoacán continues as a vibrant center for English language study in Morelia.
