Opportunities for Study in the United States

Did you know that in 2007 there were 14,922 students from Mexico studying in the United States? Think there’s nothing available for you? Think again! The alternatives are numerous. Perhaps you prefer a small four-year private university in New England, or maybe you’re looking for a “starter” program at a two-year technical school in the Southwest, or maybe you’re looking for the typical U.S. college experience and want to go to a large, public university in the Midwest – all these options, and more, are available.

Funding is frequently a top concern for potential students, but there are scholarships available to help alleviate the financial burden. For those who find finances to be a primary concern and are unable to qualify for a scholarship, the best option is a two-year public, community college – the average annual tuition is relatively affordable at $2,361/USD.

Take a look at this presentation to review the types of programs available, funding details, scholarship alternatives and which universities are the most popular for international students. Then, take a look at EducationUSA.  This website provides a wealth of information regarding undergraduate and graduate programs, financial aid, scholarships and much more. You can also read more at the America.gov Student Site.  Good luck!  We hope to see applying for a student visa at the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City, or the U.S. Consulate in Guadalajara soon!
